On Display Now: Miwok Patriots Exhibit

 In Public Events

This exhibit highlights the contributions and sacrifices Miwok men and women made in defending their lands as it changed ownership from Spain, Mexico, and then the United States of America. The exhibit is on display inside the Amador Senior Center from May 29th, 2023, through July 31st, 2023, Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:00pm. We are located at 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson, CA 95642.

Instead of a reception this year, you can look forward to a Miwok Stories Night on Friday, June 16th, 2023, at 6:00pm at the Amador Senior Center. Learn about the storytelling traditions of the Miwok people. These stories were formerly told at night in the roundhouse. Certain men versed in the myths often travelled from village to village telling the tales in the roundhouse of each village. Hear Miwok people tell traditional stories passed down for generations.

This free event is open to the public. Sponsored by the Miwok Heritage Center and by a grant from the 7th Generation Fund.
